continued: things like that would NOT happen here, the wait times in the E.R.? same thing happens here, priority of the emergency is always going to cause wait times for those who don't have bad injuries, or none at all. Canadian taxes and prices are higher because their economy is better than ours at this moment, they get paid more, there for sell things and tax things for more, that is how the world works. I grew up in a small town in north-eastern Ontario and my family had no problems getting prompt, effective health care there, now that I live in Toronto I still have no problems. My parents were well taken care of in their old age, I myself have been promptly treated for broken bones and serious cuts, etc. I have a friend in Ottawa who was diagnosed with cancer; she was promptly treated, recovered nicely and is now back at work.

I live in Toronto. When I want to see my family doctor at the privately-run clinic that he works at, I call his receptionist and I can get an appointment within a few days. He's an excellent doctor who earned his degree at the U of Toronto med school. When I go to see him, I present my OHIP card and wait, usually between 15-30 minutes. The frequency of my visits to my doctor is entirely decided by he and I, government bureaucrats are not involved, neither are insurance company bureaucrats.

I live in Ontario and last year when I broke my leg fibula (ankle bone) from the time that I came to the hospital emergency room to when I left it took a total of 2 hours on a friday night in the summer. This included seeing a nurse, getting an x-ray, getting the cast.... Also I go to the walk in clinic when I have problems, it's open 7 days a week (Appletree Medical clinic) and I have never waited more than 1 hour to see a doctor and get requisition for drugs, or a specialist.

If there was a free market with minimal taxes America would be a different country. When there were many independent unions in the 40's and 50's businesses provided living wages, Health benefits, and pensions... But that was when The FIAT DOLLAR was still pretty fresh. The US leads the OECD in number medical errors and error fatalities. Did these people make a choice to die from their doctors. As for allegedly the so called hordes of Canadians jamming the border to go the US for health care..... a myth that has been disproven over and over again. In fact few Canadians go to the US for health care. .016% of our population did so in 2008. Deloitte estimates as many 6 million Americans will go abroad for health care in 2010

Actually according to the OECD Canada took a slight lead in the US over number of family doctors. In fact US has far below average in terms of numbers of doctors and not even close to average.

JUST AN OBSERVATION, I have known many Canadians and met many from Canada. Youtube is an awesome tool to share ideas and opinions, soooo. Every Canadian I have met between the ages of 18-38ish say the care is great. Everyone over that age has told me its horrible and many have told me stories of doing things like selling cars or refinancing their houses to afford a trip to the states for imprtant procedures or operations they need. This is an honest statement, no disrespect intended.

pluuuus this is so garbage anyways. its innacurate, one-sided, and the worst representation of healthcare here. i agree with everything every other canadian has said here. it is great healthcare and im so glad it is the way it is. ive required some intense healthcare and have had hardly any waiting times and zero problems.

@Pantalaimon345 just to clarify, ( not to argue)but we decided this is how we wanted our money spent. No one twisted our arm, and so far it works pretty damn good. As far as the waiting goes yes, because of population growth and an aging population some things take a bit longer (like hip replacements) but heart surgery has zero wait time for emergencies and short ones for non life threatening ones.
